Construction of Apartment Buildings
Hackett Avenue, Mountain View

Turning Negative Noise to Something Positive

Dun, dun, dun— Dun, dun, dun— Dun, dun, dun—
banging of nails across the street wakes me up.
Not the most famous four notes of Beethoven's
Fifth: Dun-Dun-Dun-DUN!— Wake Up! Wake Up!

Construction of two apartments has been
ongoing for months Monday through Friday
7 am to 6 pm— cement trucks rolled by
to lay the foundation, long wooden planks

came for installation and assembly—
the building rises as forty workers
labored on the roofs and windows—
the body grows daily over the skelton.

Perhaps I can turn this negative noise
into a positive experience— Friends say
I talk the talk but never walk the walk—
sprouting ideas that don't seem to bear fruit.

What happened to the hours of hard work
compiling "Resources on Singularity & Dante",
"Symbolism of the Apple and Magpie" that
climbed to #1 ranking in Google Search?

Where is the fairy tale I wish to publish,
books to inspire— Einstein's Wisdom Mudra,
The Platonic Lambda: Soul of the Universe,
Dictionary of Numbers and Spiritual Sages?

This construction is kicking me in the butt
to tackle my bucket list with more resolve,
to write a chapter a week till my book
is done before the apartment is complete.
