Mali C19
  Crowned Crane on Tortoise
        (issued 11-23-1963)

Slow Down

Tortoise:
Someone heavy landed
on my back— Who are you?

Crane:
Just a crane needing a rest.
Where are you going?

Tortoise:
To the lake for a swim
and drink some water.

Crane:
Good! We're going
for the same thing.

Tortoise:
You'll fly there in a minute.
Would take me hours.

Crane:
Didn't you beat the hare
in a race? You can do it!

Tortoise:
That was Aesop's fairy tale.
The hare was asleep so I won.

Crane:
I must slow down, take it easy—
stop and smell the roses.

Tortoise:
You're too heavy for me.
I'm huffing and puffing!

Crane:
OK! I'll clasp your shell—
up we go and enjoy the view!
