1963 Movie by Stanley Donen |
Preface: For Song #47, I've selected Andy Williams singing "Charade" (1964), after watching the movie Charade at Stanford Theatre (8-20-2023). This 1963 Mystery-Thriller-Romance-Comedy film was directed by Stanley Donen. Charade was "the best Hitchcock movie that Hitchcock never made." Cary Grant was 58 while Audrey Hepburn was 33 in this movie. Despite their 25-years age difference, they got along well romantically. Others in movie include Walter Matthau, James Coburn, George Kennedy, Dominique Minot, & Ned Glass. I've danced waltz to "Charade" many times at Cubberley Pavilion ballroom dancing. Lyrics. |
When we played our charade We were like children posing Playing at games, acting out names Guessing the parts we played Oh what a hit we made We came on next to closing Best on the bill, lovers until Love left the masquerade Fate seemed to pull the strings I turned and you were gone While from the darkened wings The music box played on Sad little serenade Song of my heart's composing I hear it still, I always will Best on the bill Charade © Peter Y.
