Preface: After listening to Rudy Vallée sing "Goodnight Sweetheart", YouTube played Elvis singing "Return to Sender". So for Song #37, I've selected "Return to Sender" sang by Elvis Presley (1962). (Lyrics). Song was featured in the film Girls! Girls! Girls!. Written by Winfield Scott & Otis Blackwell to suit Presley's rock & roll musical style. Singer laments his relationship with a spiteful partner. Released on October 2, 1962, & published by Elvis Presley Music, song became a commercial hit & received praise for its lyricism & melody. Song peaked at number one on UK Singles Chart, & was UK Christmas number one in 1962. It was also first Christmas number one in Irish Singles Chart. In the U.S., "Return to Sender" reached No. 2 on American Billboard singles chart, kept out of top spot by The Four Seasons' "Big Girls Don't Cry". However, song reached No. 1 on the rival Cash Box & Music Vendor singles charts. "Return to Sender" also went
to No. 5 on R&B charts. The single was certified platinum by RIAA for sales in excess of one million units in the U.S.
