Blue Fairy & Pinocchio changing puppet to real boy |
Preface: For Song #11, I've selected a memorable song
"When You Wish Upon a Star" from one of my
favorite musical movies
Pinocchio, a Disney film (1940) that I saw in Shanghai
when I was 8 years old. The song was written by Leigh Harline (music), and Ned Washington (lyrics) for Walt Disney's animated classic Pinocchio, based on fairy tale novel of same name by Italian author Carlo Collodi. The original version was sung by Cliff Edwards in the character of Jiminy Cricket, and is heard over the opening credits and in the final scene of the film. When seen from afar, the Earth appears as a Star, so we could make our wishes come true right here and now. Metaphor in this movie: We're made of wood (ego-self) unless we aspire to be real (Cosmic-Self). May the Blue Fairy within us help in making this * transformation. |
When you wish upon a star Makes no difference who you are Anything your heart desires Will come to you It will come to you If your heart is in your dream No request is too extreme When you wish upon a star As dreamers do Oh fate is kind She brings to those to love The sweet fulfillment of Their secret longing Like a bolt out of the blue Fate steps in and sees you through When you wish upon a star Your dream comes true When you wish upon a star Your dream Comes true © Peter Y.
