in commemoration of Paul's 81st birthday (6-18-1942) today.
"Yesterday" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney
and credited to Lennon-McCartney. It was first released on the album Help! in August 1965,
except in the United States, where it was issued as a single in September. The song
reached number one on the US charts. McCartney's vocal & acoustic guitar, together with
a string quartet, essentially made for the first solo performance of the band.
It remains popular today and, with more than 2,200 cover versions, is one of the most
covered songs in the history of recorded music. "Yesterday" was voted the best song
of the 20th century in a 1999 BBC Radio 2 poll of music experts & listeners and
was also voted the No. 1 pop song of all time by MTV & Rolling Stone magazine the following year.

[Verse 1] Yesterday All my troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though they're here to stay Oh, I believe in yesterday [Verse 2] Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be There's a shadow hanging over me Oh, yesterday came suddenly [Bridge] Why she had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say I said something wrong Now I long for yesterday [Verse 3] Yesterday Love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe in yesterday [Bridge] Why she had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say I said something wrong Now I long for yesterday [Outro] Mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm, hmm-hmm |
