Assignment 4 for LINC 58: Project-Based Learning's Module 4 Final Project is to showcase your work to an audience (Slideshow, Website, Google Document, Screencast, iMovie). Chose to do website uploading my work

I described the work done, and web pages still to finish. Below is a summary of the work accomplished. Also
an essay to answer overarching question: "How the Soul is related to the triangular shape Λ of the Mountain?"

Web Pages Done in "Mountain Project" during Project-Based Learning Class

"Mountain Quotes" (finished 6-16-2018)
Used my personal copy of Bartlett's Familiar Quotations (13th Edition, 1955), that has citations: 20 Mountain, 36 Mountains, 5 Mount, 3 Mountaintops. Selected 39 quotes from this group. Seven of these quotes are from the Bible, and were included in "Bible on Mountains" section. Selected mountain quote from William Wordsworth's "Tintern Abbey" not cited in Bartlett's. Favorite quote is Daniel Webster's "The Old Man of the Mountain"— "But up in the mountains of New Hampshire, God Almighty has hung out a sign to show that there He makes men." Included images of 1955 postage stamp, 2000 coin, and photograph of "Old Man of the Mountain" and New York Times story of its tragic collapse on 5-3-2003.

"Bible on Mountains" (finished 6-20-2018)
Complete Concordance to the Bible: New King James Version (1983) has lots of Citations
to choose from: 154 Mount, 200 Mountain, 235 Mountains, 5 Mountaintop(s). Checked 23 Biblical citations in Jean Chevalier's The Penguin Dictionary of Symbols (1996), & included
half of them. Selected 24 & 21 quotes from Old & New Testaments. Links made to Chapter
& Verse of KJV translations. 39 Books from the Old Testament and 27 Books of the New Testament are arranged in chronological order. Found "Jesus Praying on Mountain" painting
to illustrate Matthew 14.23— "And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone."

"Mountain Symbolism" (finished 6-19-2018)
From my personal library, typed pages on mountain symbolism from the following books— J.E. Cirlot, A Dictionary of Symbols (1971), J.C. Cooper, An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Traditional Symbols (1978), Jean Chevalier & Alain Gheerbrant, The Penguin Dictionary
of Symbols
(1996), G.A. Gaskell, Dictionary of All Scriptures and Myths (1960), Harold Bayley, The Lost Language of Symbolism (1912), Barbara G. Walker, The Woman's Dictionary of Symbols & Sacred Objects (1988), Nadia Julien, Mammoth Dictionary of Symbols (1996), Wolfram Eberhard, A Dictionary of Chinese Symbols (1986), E.T.C. Werner, Myths and Legends of China (1984), C.A.S. Williams, Chinese Symbolism & Art Motifs (1974). Consuming to type, printed out in 11 pages @ 70%. Abridged Version.

"Mountain Mythology" (finished 6-22-2018)
Discussed 8 mountains in the order of their height: Mt. Everest, Mt. Ararat, Matterhorn,
Mt. Shasta, Mt. Fuji, Mt. Olympus, Mt. Sinai, & Mt. Arunachala. Checked out at Los Altos Library (June 21): Mount Shasta: A Guide to Climbing and Climbing Mt. Fuji, but neither book had mythology on these mountains. Also checked out a children's book The Littlest Mountain by Barb Rosenstock, adapted from "Contest of the Mountains", a legend from Midrash (Bereshit Rabbath 99:1). Mt. Arnunachala (2671 ft) is even smaller than Mt. Sinai (7497 ft). Ramana Maharshi, one of 20th century greatest sages, came to Arunachala Hill at age 17 (Sept. 1, 1896) after his self-enlightenment, and stayed here all his life (53 years) to teach others. Introduced to the West by Paul Brunton's A Search in Secret India (1935).

"Mountain Photography" (finished 6-25-2018)
Photo at left "Climber on Pinnacle near Mt. Whitney" is by Galen Rowell (1973). Along with Ansel Adams, they were the best nature & landscape photographers. Two of their books are shown in this section— Ansel Adams's Our National Parks (1992) and Galen Rowell's Yosemite and the Wild Sierra (2003). 21 photos were selected for this page— 3 by Ansel Adams, 4 by Galen Rowell, 4 by Thomas Mangelsen, 3 by Jack Bauer, 4 from Pinterest's posting of 160 Mountain Photos, and 3 from Unsplash's collection of 20,177 free mountain photos— Tanvi Malik's Peyto Lake, Christopher Burns's Patagonia, and Rohit Tandon's
Ama Dablam. Clicking on photo for original source where these images were downloaded.

"Mountain Resources" (finished 6-25-2018)
Google Search of "Mountain Resources" showed 126,000 results. Checked the top 100 web pages on these listings, but they're all commercial sites touting services in mining, natural resources of oil & gas, timber industry. Instead, typed the 12 categories in my "Mountains" Table of Contents and found more relevant results— "Mtn Symbolism" (31,100 results), "Mtn in the Bible" (2,050,000 results), "Mtn Quotes" (745,000 results), Mtn Writings" (15,800 results), "Mtn Mythology" (18,100 results), "Mtnn Books" (198,000 results), "Mtn Art" (2,640,000 results), "Mtn Music" (1,440,000 results), "Mtn Poetry" (18,600 results), "Mtn Photography" (1,690,000 results), "Mtn Stamps" (16,500 results). Photo of Yosemite Falls at left. Inspiring quote from Zen Master Dogen"Body, like the mountain; Heart, like the ocean; Mind, like the sky."
