Searched for mountain paintings at the web site fineartamerica where they had 10,000 mountain paintings for sale. Went through pages 1-50 containing 36 paintings per page. After viewing 1800 paintings, bookmarked 26 mountain paintings from well-known artists. Also viewed 427 landscape painting of Thomas Moran, and selected 13 mountain paintings from his vast collection. I've included Courbet's "Castle Chillon" above for
my visit with Paul Brunton in 1972 at Montreux. He pointed out the distant mountains of Switzerland, France,
and Italy. Then, he whispered, "to your left is the Castle Chillon where Byron wrote his poem in one night". Edward Lear's Mt. Athos was placed on top, when recalling my meeting with PB in 1979. I showed him my compilation of Einstein in the wisdom mudra pose. PB said there are lots of Byzantine paintings of Christ in similar pose at Mt. Athos. He knows the Abbot there and can arrange a visit for me. As I was too busy with research on protein structural predictions, declined his kind offer. Sharing some mountain paintings.
