The Letter G: Gifts of Grace

From God's creation in Genesis
to Four Gospels of gloom & glory—
we glimpse Christ at Gethsemane,
Golgotha and Galilee—

glowing tales of the Holy Grail,
gentle guardian angels guiding us
to the golden gate where guests are
led by Golden Goose to the Garden.

Greetings by Giotto, El Greco,
Gaugain and Goya in the arts,
Goethe, Gilbran, Allen Ginsberg
in poetry, Gershwin, Gillespie,

and Benny Goodman in music—
abundant gems on sacred grounds.
Glamorous stars entertain us at
the movies in the Grand Hotel—

Clark Gable and Judy Garland,
Greta Garbo and Greer Garson,
Lillian Gish and Janet Gaynor—
Stars are born here and glistened.

Casper Ghost & Garfield the Cat
gazed at naked Lady Godiva
riding Gallant Fox faster than
the gazelles and mountain goats.

Baseball greats Gehrig, Lefty Grove,
Grover Cleveland Alexander,
George Sisler, Goose Gossage,
and in basketball, Gail Goodrich,

in football, Gale Sayers, and in
hockey, Wayne Gretzky— champions
gathered here for an All-Stars Game.
But I'm going back in time and

learn gravity from Galileo,
geometry from Kurt Gödel,
dance "Simple Gifts" with Martha Graham,
drinking Plato's Goodness filled with Grace.
