Archway to Heaven

Poem "Archways"
with 11 man-made arches
& 4 arches on my web site

Trellis, Gamble Gardens

Fairy Bridge, Guangxi, China

Not aware of archway's link to the spirit
until reading Suzan-Lori Parks' fascination
with them, following her wherever she moved.
There are four arches on top of my web site.

Wrote poem "Archways" on these findings,
with all arches from my travels and those
on college campuses— all were man-made.
Ann likes the trellis made by man & nature.

She sends "World's giant natural arches" link
from China and Utah that I've not seen.
I marvel at these 19 natural wonders
and mention three of my favorites—

The Fairy Bridge in Guangxi is idyllic,
Utah's Landscape Arch, a marvel to behold,
while the Aloba Arch in Chad resembles a
spiritual passageway like the Vesica Piscis.

I wonder if there are archways in heaven—
"Yes!" said Archer with bow, Sagittarius.
Even closer is the Crescent Moon at night
which we witness every month in the sky.

Let's not forget the travails of Noah—
stuck in his Ark for forty days and nights,
the Flood receded, Dove brings olive leaf,
Heavenly archway— rainbow in the sky—

God's promise not to wipe out humankind.
Let's celebrate with Judy Garland's song—
"Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly,
If they can, Oh why not you and I."
