Halloween Treats 2022

Murders in the Rue Morgue
by Edgar Allen Poe< (1841)

Legend of Sleepy Hollow
by Washington Irving (1820)

Frankenstein
by Mary Shelley (1818)

Dracula
by Bram Stoker (1897)

Skeletons are rattling,
ghosts & ghouls tattling,
scary scenes you've never seen
on this annual night's Halloween.

Witches' cauldron brewing bubble, bubble,
frogs & newts oozing trouble, trouble—
vampire bats flying high in the sky,
make sure Dracula is not nearby.

Winchester Mystery House, kids want to go,
I'll read them a tale from Edgar Allen Poe—
Murders in the Rue Morgue keeps them awake
more than the raven cawing for a piece of cake.

Listen my children and you shall hear
the ride of Headless Horseman is here—
there's more dread in him than the dead,
all he wants is to chop off your head!

More scary than bats from the cave
is Frankenstein's Monster from the grave—
made from decaying parts of corpses,
he's stronger than the force of horses.

Peaceful Quakers of Pennsylvania
have not met Count from Transylvania—
Dracula will drink blood from yor neck,
make you undead and in a total wreck.

Are children coming for trick or treats?
Give them lots of candy and sweets,
apple cider and pumpkin-spice pie,
make Halloween their day of high.

I'm going to Linus Pumpkin Patch
sit beside him and keeping watch
for the Great Pumpkin to appear—
it will come if we are sincere.
