Native Americans call September's
Full Moon "Harvest Moon" since
farmers gather crops at this time.

In Joseph Bruchac's "13 Moons on a
Turtle's Back", Ojibwe tribe calls
9th Moon— "Moose Calling Moon".

Algonquin tribes call it the Corn Moon,
Europeans call it Ripe Fruit Moon, and
Chinese eat moon cakes on this date.

Moonlight lasts from dawn to dusk for
a few nights in a row, giving farmers
light to continue working at night.

It's the full moon closest to the
Autumn Equinox on September 23,
as season changes from Summer to Fall.

Harvest Moon rises at sunset between
bright planet Jupiter & golden Saturn,
and stays up throughout the night.

Once I dreamt myself inside Bruegel's
painting "Hay Harvest" and asked God
behind that Rock "What is the Answer?"

A voice bellows out: "There is no answer!"
Hearing the secret, I leap out of the painting
as an alarm clock rings me out of my dream.

The Earth & Harvest Moon are dancing—
they've been in love for billions of years,
let's offer them blessings and cheers!
