Native Americans call August's
Full Moon "Sturgeon Moon" since
that's when this huge fish is caught.

In Joseph Bruchac's "13 Moons on a
Turtle's Back", Bear People call 8th Moon—
"Moon of Wild Rice" exchanged for corn.

Celtics call it the Lynx Moon,
Europeans call it Lightning Moon, and
Cherokee tribes call it the Fruit Moon.

August Full Moon orbits closer to Earth
making it the last supermoon of the year,
next one won't be until August 1, 2023.

Sturgeons are largest fresh-water fish—
largest one caught in Volga Delta (1827)
was 23 ft 7 in long, weighing 3,463 lbs.

They are long-lived and late maturing,
some females living over 100 years old,
fossils show them 200 million years ago.

Pray to the Sturgeon Full Moon—
this giant ancient fish will bring
your fondest wish to fulfillment.
