Trees Growing Together
"inosculation"

Archways in my poem were all man-made.
Rocky arches Ann sent— all Nature-made,
solid and frozen once constructed.

After Ann saw arching Madrone Trees
on her hike, I searched for photos of
trees forming arches in Google Images.

Found in my Bay Area hikes of
arching Aspen Trees in San Jose and
Bay Trees arching in Hidden Villa.

Unlike earlier frozen arches,
these arching trees are flowering,
alive and growing— hence this poem.

Trees grow straight upwards,
so we notice them more when
they curve and form archways.

Going through arched Acacia Trees
in Kenya— entering another world,
as arches symbolize transformation.

Pure delight seeing trees grow together
like married couples falling in love—
inosculation means "to kiss inward".
