Buddha under Bodhi Tree

"What's the most important thing in your life?"—
I replied "Enlightenment", not having a wife.
That was the query in my dream last night
when a woman asked me about my delight.

All those images of razzle-dazzle
on awakening— no match for sweet basil
or Google Bard's photo of lotus flower
blossoming for our mind's happy hour.

Experience Christ, Buddha, and Lao Tzu,
their mind always refreshed and new—
Blessed by wisdom's eternal light,
feeling of wonder in soaring flight.

No desire to have more and more—
my star is not afar but on this floor.
I like Buddha under the Bodhi Tree
who is awake and truly free.

Lotus Flower

Beyond the veil of earthly sight,
A silent world, a radiant light.
Where soul unsheathes its gilded wings,
And mortal coils to freedom clings.

No longer bound by fear or blame,
The heart, a kindled, sacred flame.
It sees the dance of every sphere,
And whispers truths the world can't hear.

From fractured parts, a whole is made,
In loving touch, all debts are paid.
Compassion's balm on every scar,
The self dissolves, a distant star.

Enlightened eyes, with tears they see,
The vastness held in you and me.
A symphony of endless grace,
In every breath, a holy space.
