Harvest Moon shone brightly yesterday,
Autumn Equinox was just a week away.

October 1 birthdays coming through—

President, singer, baseball star—
they were born ten years apart.

Vladmir Horowitz also born October 1st,
his piano playing will quench your thirst.

Reggie Jackson named "Mr. October"
for hitting 10 World Series homers.

October Moon is called "Hunter's Moon"
and Hopis call it the "Long Hair Moon".

A book of verse, wine, and loaf of bread,
watching leaves turn from green to red.

"In God We Trust" on U.S. dollar bills,
Oktoberfest folk dancers bring us thrills.

The heaviest pumpkin at Half-Moon Bay
from Gienger— 2560 pounds it weighed!

Birthstone & flower— opal & marigold—
gem & floral colors— dazzling to behold.

On Halloween, children out on the streets
getting candies as they go "trick or treat".

Fruits ripen for October harvest—
it's a good time to rest and be blest.
