Project 4: Photo Essay Poster
Design a poster displaying 5 or more images to communicate a theme.
Composition Specifications:
• Use 5+ images. Poster must include both title text & paragraph text.
• Title text must be the title of your photo essay theme.
• Paragraph text must include narrative about the theme.
• Message about what you hope these photos convey is optional.
• Minimum of 50 words. Poster size: 8.5"x11" or larger.
Construction Specifications:
• 1 color enhanced image
• 1 black and white image
• 1 composite of at least 3 images
• 1 image of words collage with layer styles applied
• 1 image that is a retouched old photograph

(2) Background Pattern for Poster
There are 30 Background Patterns at HDWPlan. The Orange Hd Background Pattern was selected. This (1300x866) image was rotated 90^o clockwise and resized & cropped to 8.5x11 size. The resulting image OrangeBackgroundPattern(612x792).jpg is shown at left. This will be the poster background where images and texts will be placed & arranged.

(3) Retouching an Old Photograph
B&W Giza Pyramids changed to RGB duotone— Image/Adjustment/ ColorBalance: +100/0/-100 (Red/Yellow). Magic Wand to Sky, Radial Gradient Yellow (RGB 232/232/109) to Magenta (RGB 186/72/234) for radiant glow.

Rectangle with Text— the Soul Manifests Itself when We're Alive

(6) Making Composite Photo of 3 Images
PhotoEssayPoster/ "GeeseGalaxiesVineyard" was composited using BurgundianVineyard as background, & pasting FlyingGeese in the sky. Andromeda-MilkyWay was narrowed using Edit/Transform/Distort to make CollidingGalaxies. Pasted to Vanishing Point area of Vineyard. Smudge Tool used to blur FlyingGeese & CollidingGalaxies in the composite.

(7) Collage of Words with Layer Styles Applied
Combined Leonardo's Face & Giacometti's Walking Man to make "FaceWalking" image. Filter/NeonGlow applied to create NeonGlowFaceWalking(333x280).psd. LayerStyles/DropShadow applied to "Breathing", "Walking", "Living"
to create "Collage of Words" at left

(8) Arranging Photos, Collage, Text in Photo Essay Poster
"PlatonicLambdaPoster9(612x792).psd" is a Photoshop document containing all the images with Layers present, so the images can be moved front & back as well as sideways on the page. It is 3.7 MB in size. When compressed to "PlatonicLambdaPoster9(612x792).jpg", all the Layers are flattened so the images are no longer movable. The file size has been reduced considerably to 262 KB. It was renamed "pychou_Assignment4.jpg" and uploaded to Canvas.
