| Preface: After moving to Paulson Park Apartments in April 2014, I'm always running down Montebello Ave and Montecito Ave to catch Bus #40 on Rengstorff Avenue to Foothill College Computer Lab in Palo Alto. On Saturday, May 24, 2014, I was walking home around 6 pm on Montebello Ave and noticed four trees that I've ignored for almost two months, since they were on the other side of the street. Now, I call them four friends— Pepper Tree (Schinus molle), Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens), Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), and Red Ironbark (Eucalyptus sideroxylon). I pause by each of them, touch their trunks, and ask for blessings. Then, on Monday, June 24, 2014 at 11:42 am, while running to catch the 11:51 am Bus #40, a Pepper Tree stopped me cold that I got the camera from my backpack to take photos of the bent branch shaped like the Platonic Lambda, Soul of the Universe.
