Preface: On Sunday, August 17, 2008, Stanford University Green Library was closed after its Summer Session. My friend told me there's a beautiful place where she went hiking ten days ago at Loch Lomond in Felton, Santa Cruz. There is a Loch Lomond in Scotland with its ribbon lake containing many islands. There's also a well-known song Loch Lomond (1841) with the chorus: "Oh, ye'll tak' the high road, and I'll tak' the low road, / And I'll be in Scotland afore ye; / But me and my true love will never meet again / On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond." The drive from Mountain View taking Highway 17 took about an hour. When we arrived, the scenery was breathtaking. This is my first time using a digital camera. I set the Canon PowerShot A590IS to "Easy Mode" so it automatically selected the focusing and lighting. On the last photo I used "Auto Mode" so the flash came on when taking a picture of the Loch Lomond entrance sign at 7:15 pm. A few of the photos came out slightly tilted, so they were rotated in Photoshop to make them straight. I also used Adobe Photoshop's "Curve" feature to brighten some of the photos since the flash was not operational in the "Easy Mode". I'm surprised that all 26 photos from my first digital camera came out well. The haikus were written on the spot or sometimes afterwards upon returning home.
