Photos: Clouds in Mountain View Photographs at Latham Street, Ortega Avenue, Target Parking Lot Friday, November 26, 2010 By Peter Y. Chou WisdomPortal.com |
Preface: It's Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, November 26, 2010. My copy of today's Mercury News was triple its normal size with glossy ads from Bay Area stores luring shoppers with huge discounts and bargains. I'm content with what I have and no desire to shop today. My favorite radio station KDFC 102.1 FM is playing a lot of Christmas tunes instead of classic music. However when they played Gluck's Orfeo: Dance of the Blessed Spirits (1762), I wrote "On day after Thanksgiving / I feel blessed listening to / "Dance of the Blessed Spirits". Later, when Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker: Waltz of the Flowers (1892) was played, I wrote "Are flowers waltzing / or giddy when bees kiss / them gathering honey?" My friend drove me for some errands returned two Garbo books to Los Altos Library, mailed letter at Los Altos Post Office, spinach salad at Safeway, and dozen eggs at Target. Leaving my apartment around 3 pm, I noticed some beautiful clouds and rushed back for my camera. The first photo below shows swirling clouds on Latham Street it looks like a white cat sleeping on a giant feather. The next photo shows a big bird hovering over the feather. Other cloud photos show images of a swan, dragon, fiery flames, and ghost comet. The photos near sunset (4:38 pm) at Target's parking lot show clouds resembling stairway to heaven. The last two photos were taken on Tuesday, November 30 (1:58 pm) at Stanford Lasuen Mall between Green Library and the Art Library. At yesterday's Thanksgiving Potluck Party, I took 13 photos of Sally's Backyard with trees, plants, and leaves symbolizing the blessings of earth. The 16 cloud photos of today symbolize the wonders of heaven. I'm reminded of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, V.1.12 (1595) "The poet's eye, in a fine frenzy rolling, / Doth glance from heaven to earth, from earth to heaven / And, as imagination bodies forth / The forms of things unknown, the poet's pen / turns them to shapes..." |
