Preface: On Friday, August 6, 2010, a friend and I took walk (6:45-7:15 pm) around Lake Lagunita on the Stanford University campus. Near a majestic California Live Oak, we saw a two-foot hare standing and gazing at us before it hopped away. I didn't have my camera with me, but the experience was exhiliarating. I found a standing hare image with similar posture on the web and created the montage below using Adobe Photoshop. On Friday, August 13, near the same spot, Jack Rabbit jumped out before I could snap a photo of him. I found a running hare image on the web and recreated the scene in Photoshop. On Friday, August 20, we went there again and heard a rustle in the bushes. Jack Rabbit came out, and this time he sat still for three minutes while I took nice pictures of him. What a miracle to see Jack Rabbit three times in a row! Earlier in our walk, a group of Canadian geese flew overhead in V-formation, landing in the dry Lake Lagunita. Suddenly I had an epiphany that these geese were not flying in V-formation but Λ-formation. They are flying in the shape of the Platonic Lambda, which Plato calls "soul of the universe".
