Preface: On Thursday, October 29, 2009, a friend and I took an half-hour walk (4:05-4:35 pm) around Lake Lagunita on the Stanford University campus. There's no water in the Lake as usual, but this is a favorite spot for students jogging around and others walking their dogs. After completing the circular walk, we walked one-third the way to a bench under a giant oak. This was the spot where I saw on the opposite side the "Sleeping Tree of Lake Lagunita" which inspired a poem six years ago (August 1, 2003). This time I told my friend about an illuminating lecture I attended on Tuesday, October 27 (7-9 pm)— "Pilgrimage to the End of the World: The Road to Santiago de Compostela" by Conrad Rudolph (Professor of Art History, University of California, Riverside). As I'm telling my friend about his grueling journey walking two and half months and 1000 miles, a giant blimp was circling the Lake. This Airship cruised around the Lake twice but I left my camera in the car. When we rushed back to get it, the Airship flew right over us and was gone. After I got my camera, the clouds had changed to an orange hue from the sunset (6:12 pm). These photos were taken several minutes after sunset. The photos were formatted at Cummings Art Library (8-10 pm) and this HTML web page with haikus were written at Stanford Green Library (10:30 pm-1 am).
