Preface: On Friday, April 22, 2011, a friend and I walked to Lake Lagunita on the Stanford campus (7:10-7:40 pm). It was three weeks since we came here on April 1 when the lake was filled with water. There was no rain during the interim so the lake's water has dwindled to less than half its previous size. There were several pairs of ducks swimming in the lake. When a golden retriever jumped in chasing the ducks, they flew away when the dog got close. It was a surprise seeing the white egret across the lake. The evening clouds were not as beautiful as last time. Seeing the "Sleeping Tree of Lake Lagunita" reminded me of a poem written earlier.
