| Preface: On Friday, May 27, 2011, a friend and I walked to Lake Lagunita on the Stanford campus (6:50-7:06 pm). This is our fifth visit since April 1, 2011 when the Lake was filled with water after heavy rains. With each subsequent visit, the water in the Lake had dwindled considerably. However we were entertained by the White Egret's presence each time. On our last visit (May 6), we saw ducks, ducklings, and seven Candian Geese, before the Egret made his return to claim the spotlight. So after three weeks, it was a surprise to see some water still remaining in the Lake. At 6:55 pm, my friend said "Hurry take a photo of the Egret flapping his wings!" As I did so, the Egret took off in flight. Luckily I captured the Egret in six photos flying over the Lake, by a house, by a tree, before the clouds, and over a tree. It just occurred to me that "egret" is an anagram for "greet". Certainly, I felt blessed by the Egret's generous greetings of grace and goodness. |
