Preface: On Sunday, March 29, 2015, after seeing American Sniper (1:30-3:40 pm) at Cupertino's Bluelight Cinema with Al Guzman and Rudy, Al took us for a walk across the nearby Mary Avenue Bridge (photo). I was amazed at this beautiful minimalist bridge with two arches (height= 79.9 ft) resembling the Platonic Lambda Λ ("Soul of the Universe" Timaeus 35b). Rudy and I noticed a huge "S" sign on the sidewalk leading to the bridge, and Rudy surmised it stood for "South"— south side of the bridge from Mary Avenue. Al drove us to the north end on Homestead Avenue, where we looked for the "N" sign without success. Later, I recalled the Confucian Analects, Lunyu 7.8 (475 BC)— Confucius: "I only instruct the eager and enlighten the fervent. If I hold up one corner and a student cannot come back with the other three, I do not go on with the lesson." Based on our actions, searching for the "North" sign, Confucius wouldn't accept Rudy & me as his students. Since knowing the South sign, the other three corners are known— North, East, & West. I didn't bring my camera on March 29, and didn't take any photos. On Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, Rudy and I went to the Bluelight Cinema and saw Theory of Everything (4:55-7:00 pm). Afterwards, I walked across the Mary Avenue Bridge taking 38 photos (7:18-7:50 pm) below. The Mary Ave Bridge opened on April 30, 2009, and was renamed Don Burnett Bicycle-Pedestrian Bridge (July 19, 2011) after the Cupertino City Councilman and avid cyclist. Near the southern entrance to the bridge, art lovers would enjoy the Red-tailed Hawk perched on top of a post ready to pounce on the baby quails below. I found the "North" sign near the "South" sign at the south entrance to Mary Ave Bridge (7:21 pm). At the end of my walk, saw the "East" and "West" signs nearby the bridge's entrance (7:50 pm)— too redundant for Confucius.
