Preface:
Since I don't have a computer at home, take Bus #40 from Mountain View to Foothill College in Los Altos Hills.
I spend the day (9:30 am-7:30 pm) at Krause Center to use the Mac computer, working
on my web site WisdomPortal.com. When Foothill College is closed for
holidays and during the summer, I go to the Los Altos Library and use their Dell Computers.
Since they don't have BBEdit or Macs, I can't compose HTML web pages until Foothill Labs are open again.
On Thursday, August 16, after leaving Los Altos Library to catch the 7:07 pm Bus #40, it came a half-hour
late. Bus driver said he was delayed at Shoreline Drive by some Google concert. This delay allowed me
to take six photos of a red sportscar at Alain Pinel Parking Lot by the Bus Stop. This is the most
spectacular car I've seen since the 1935 Auburn 851 Supercharged Auto at Los Altos Library on
August 10, 2014. Learned that this is a Ford Shelby Cobra
GT-360 Sports Car. On Friday, August 17, went to Stanford Theatre to see two great
John Ford movies by the Western film auteur, starring John Wayne
"She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" (1949) and
"The Quiet Man" (1952).
Both movies were enjoyable, and when the "Yellow Ribbon" film ended at 9:15 pm,
had enough time to catch 9:34 pm Bus #22 at Palo Alto Train Depot to San Antonio Road & El Camino
Real for the last 10:20 pm Bus #40 home. I've not gone to a Waverley Writers Potluck Party for
some 20 years. But Mary-Marcia's phone calls and email finally persuaded me to go to this
gathering of poets (4 pm-8 pm) whom I see the first Friday of each month at Palo Alto's
Friends Meeting House for poetry readings. A friend drove me
there at 7 pm. When I got off at corner of Carlson Circle & Redwood Circle, took a photo
of the Redwood Circle Signpost since I'm writing a chapter
on these giant Redwoods shaped like the Platonic Lambda Λ.
After writing a poem "One and the Many"
(8-8-2018) recently, I pay respect to the single stalk of Acantus Mollis
(Bear's Breeches) near where I live.
On August 20, took photos of Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts
and sculpture of "Marble Shooter" at entrance
of Kaiser Hospital at 555 Castro Street, when I went there to pick up a vial of Humulin.
Other photos include Giant Gnarly Pepper Tree
and Platonic Lambda Λ Redwood on Montecito Ave,
as well as Tall Redwoods at
Redwood Villa. On Wednesday, August 15, after shopping at Sprouts, caught the 8:08 pm Bus #40 home. Must have lost house & mailbox keys while looking at watch 8:00 pm at San Antonio Rd & El Camino Bus Stop; Neighbor Don Richards drove me there (8:40 pm) & searched, but can't find keys; Slept over on Don's couch (12-7 am). Next day, paid $10 to Irene for duplicate copies of lost house & mailbox keys. On Tuesday, August 21, found my lost keys on the Bus #40 Stop bench a week later. Must have lost the keys while getting out my watch at 9:52 am to check for Bus #40 arrival. The keys made little noise when they tumbled out of my pocket to the bench. I came to this bench on Thursday 8/16 to Saturday 8/18, and didn't see these keys when catching Bus #40 until on 8/21. Miracle that someone returned it to this spot. Passing by 272 Montebello Ave near at 8 pm on August 21, where I say my prayers to the Platonic Lambda Λ Pepper Tree, the white dog was inside the gate. The owner Patricia came out to bring him in. I asked her what kind of dog is it. She told me it's a Clumber Spaniel from Britain. His name is Wilber (with an "e"), and I patted him on the head, since he no longer barks at me when I stop by. Three photos of Magnolia leaves by Bus #40 Stop (1, 2, 3). One yellow-veined leaf fell on the bench that inspired the poem 'Yellow-Veined Leaf Sings" (10-3-2017). Last 9 photos are visit to Stanford Theatre (August 23, 2018) for Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) & The Secret Garden (1949) movies. Dad took us to see Secret Garden at Utopia Theater (1949), my first movie in America. |
