Preface: O Wonderful to hear from Greg Reppen (5-8) inviting me for lunch & Stanford Tai Chi class (5-14, 11 am-4 pm); Last email from him was 7 years ago (1-22-2012). Greg's 12/21/2009 email inspired my poem "What Is Belief?" (2-4-2009) for Mark Doty's Stanford class (Notes, 12-31-2009). He dropped in at Foothill College Krause Center to see me (5/9) before getting my 1:53 pm email.
Greg picked me up at my apartment at 11 am on May 14. Introduced me to his longtime friend Tiss. He drove first to Jane Lane on Rengstorff Ave so I could pick up today's Daily Post. A giant Bay Tree at the corner had three limbs chopped off on Saturday around
8 pm, when I passed by to ballroom dancing. They told me half of the tree fell down. Since I come by there to catch Bus #40 daily,
I was lucky that it didn't topple over me. Adding three photos of this Bay Tree taken on May 15. Greg treated me to Angelo Mio, an Italian Restaurant in Menlo Park over ten years ago. Today, it was Fey Restaurant (1368 El Camino Real, Menlo Park). I was impressed
by its inner decor— chandeliers overhead with school of metal fish swimming on the walls. We sat at a circular table in the back room.
Greg ordered the Vegetable Combination, Tiss liked Mongolian Beef with rice, I had Shrimp, Fish Fillet, Tofu, and Chow Mein. We were served Hot & Sour Soup and Green Tea. After lunch, Greg drove to Stanford Neuroscience Health Center, 213 Quarry Road,
Palo Alto. He and Tiss went there last Tuesday for the first time. This free Tai Chi class with Mwezo Kudumu had 17 students today. We held to back of chairs as well as without chairs following Mwezo in his slow-movement Tai Chi. Greg dropped me off at Foothill Krause Center at 4:30 pm. Gave Greg last 9 issues of Common Ground (2018-2019), Meditation & Health (Issues #23, #25), and 14 of my poems with Notes— Happy Monday!, Love Is for the Lucky & the Brave, My New Mantra, Found, Homage to Notre Dame, Most Miraculous Growth, My Favorite Trees, Rose Window, Be Still, Chinese Ideogram Shan, Linkage of Souls, One & Many, Goosepen,
and Giacometti's Walking Man. During lunch, told Greg and Tiss about Professor Robert Thurman and Dad's best friend Li Huang.
Also showed them book of Shivapuri Baba who lived to 137 years old, and 9/7/1978 Kyoto meeting with Roshi Kobori at Daitoku-ji.
