Jimmy Stewart Film Festival
Stanford Theatre Flyer (Schedule)

Preface: This web page is my homage to Jimmy Stewart. Palo Alto's Stanford Theatre had recent film festivals of Humphrey Bogart (Feb. 6-March 3) where I saw 2 of 14 films, Alfred Hitchcock (March 6-April 14) where I saw 4 of 24 films, Doris Day (April 19-May 23) where I missed seeing even one. Since Doris Day died recently at age 97 (May 13, 2019), I wished to honor her memory. So when Stanford Theatre played The Man Who Knew Too Much where she sang "Que Sera Sera", I went on May 26 and heard her singing this song twice. It was the start of James Stewart Film Festival (May 24-June 30), and I decided to attend all of his films. With the exception of Anatomy of a Murder which I've seen twice, was able to see rest of
the 20 Stewart films shown at this festival. Three of my favorite Jimmy Stewart films were not shown at this festival— The Shop Around the Corner (1940), A Wonderful Life (1946) (Photos 12-24-2018), and Vertigo (1958). (50th Anniversary; Haikus; Mythology: Melencolia). Jimmy Stewart was
a Brigadier General and received two Distinguished Flying Crosses for heroism during WW II. Enjoyed Jimmy Stewart reading poem on the Johnny Carson show (7-28-1981) "I'll Always Love A Dog Named Beau". Below are haikus written on the 20 films with 10 photos of the Stanford Marquee
as well as 44 photos of the window and lobby displays, and film posters with photo placards in the Memorabilia Room at the Stanford Theatre.
