Preface: For my VTA Clipper Card Bus Pass to be valid, Al Guzman made me take the 0 unit class LINC-405 "Beginning Technology Skills" with Kas Pereira in Summer 2021. Since then, I've taken this class in LINC-405: Summer 2021. and LINC-405: Fall 2021. For Spring 2022, William Cavada did Skills Workshop on Wednesday at 6:00-6:30 pm. Kim Randall ran the Q&A Session at 6:30-7:00 pm. I've summarized the assignments done for Spring 2022.

1. Google Slides (April 19, 2022)
Composed "Happy Birthday: April 5" in HTML.
6 People Born on April 5; 6 Events on April 5; April 5 Postmarks on Postage Stamps; April 5: Journal Writings on this Date; April 5: Birth Flower, Birthstone, Zodiac Sign. Took 5 hours to do this (Apri 4, 6:38-11:11 pm). Tried to replicate it in Google Slides (3 hours, April 19, 8:10-11:11 pm). Easy to insert 25 images from my Laptop files; Harder to type text & align them next to images; Can't link in Google Slides as in HTML.
On April 27 Skills Workshop with William Cavada, he showed how to do weblinks. On the top row of fonts, next to letter "A" & "Pen" is a Link Logo. Click on it and type the URL for the link. It's so convoluted, that I prefer to have no links in Google Slides, which are in HTML.

2. Google Drive (May 1, 2022)
Decide to replicate poem "All Seats Full"
done in HTML in Google Drive. Since
there are three images, couldn't import
2nd image without replacing 1st image.
Combined the 3 images in Photoshop
as one image (1408x394 pixels) and tried
again. Inserted "All Seats Full" & pasted
text below. Also typed title above photo.
Misspelled "riden" & changed to "ridden".
Printed in Chrome Browser @ 120%.

3. Download Photos from Google Images (May 10, 2022)

On May 4, 2022, 6:00-6:30 pm, in LINC-405 Zoom class Skills Workshop with William Cavada, he showed how to import photo (Katherine Hepburn) from Google Images to one's desktop, Google Drive, and Google Photos. For poem "Remembrance & Forgetfulness", searched in Google Images for best samples of "Remembrance" & "Forgetfulness". Most images of "Remembrance" are related to honoring Veterans who died in wars. Selected "Remembrance Day" and removed "Day" in Photoshop. Searching images of "Forgetfulness" was much easier. Found drawing of three heads with cogs ("brain cells") dissipating. Typed "Forgetting" above the heads in Photoshop (Text: Optima Extra Bold 18 pt).

"Warhol's Marilyn Sold for $195 Million" eclipsing $110.5 million for a 2017 Basquiat skull painting. Previous Warhol's auction high was "Silver Car Crash" painting that sold for $105.4 million (Nov. 2013). My last link is
Iona McLaren's story in The Telegraph
(April 22, 2022): “'It's possible she was assassinated': Joyce Carol Oates on
Marilyn Monroe”. After composing
"Making Links" in HTML, replicated
it in Google Slides.

5. Embedding Videos in Google Slides (May 25, 2022)

On May 25, 2022, 6:00-6:30 pm, in LINC-405 Zoom class Skills Workshop with William Cavada,
he showed how to embed videos. He used Google Forms, Google Sheets, and Google Slides to embed the videos.
Also used timer to shorten videos to show relevant section. Decide to download videos of Joc Pederson's 3-homer
game against the Mets when they won an unbelievable game 13-12. Next videos were from Golden State Warriors
NBA Western Conference Finals vs. the Dallas Mavericks— Andrew Wiggins' dunk over Luka Doncic; Draymond
Green's surprise reaction of his foul shot with basketball stuck on rim. Pinterest sends two emails daily on interesting
photos based on images downloaded earlier. On May 29, received video of "Three Bears Waiting on top of Waterfalls
to Catch Sockeye Salmon". Last videos were from Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest (1959) with some favorite
scenes from this film. After doing "Embedding Videos" in HTML, replicated it in Google Slides.

6. Clearing Formats in Google Slides (June 1, 2022)

On June 1, 2022, 6:00-6:30 pm, in LINC-405 Zoom class Skills Workshop with William Cavada,
he showed how to copy (Command-X) and paste (Commnad-V). I knew these short commands a long time ago.
Another feature Cavada showed which I'm not familiar with is "Clearing Formats" in Google Slides. I compsed
"Embedding Videos" in HTML on June 1. The font used was Times Roman (Font Size=5). When it was replicated
in Google Slides on June 4, I recalled what Cavada taught on "Clear Formatting" (June 1). Copy (Command-X)
and Paste (Command-V) the yellowed text into Google Slides. Clicking the "Clear Format" icon at the upper
right corner, the yellowed text was removed. In addition, the original font "Times Roman" was changed to
"Arial" (font size = 12 pt).

On June 8, 2022, 6:00-6:30 pm, in LINC-405 Zoom class Skills Workshop with William Cavada, he showed how
to arrange items in Google Sheets. He typed the persons present in the ZoomSession— William Cavada, Peter Chou,
Mara MacDonald in three rows. First name in Column 1, Last name in Column 2. Alphabetize the three names.
Cavada suggested I could use Google Sheets to arrange my favorite poets. Gathered postage stamps of 6 poets
to arrange in Google Sheets— Name, Dates, Biography, Poem. Rumi: Quatrain 1246; Dante: Paradiso 33;
Goethe: Faust II:V; Blake: Auguries of Innocence; Rilke: Winged Energy; Emily: Poem 111.

8. Enlarging Portraits in Google Sheets (June 22, 2022)

On June 22, 2022, 6:00-6:30 pm, in LINC-405 Zoom class Skills Workshop with William Cavada,
I asked how to enlarge images in Google Sheets. He downloaded a photo of Maya Angelou. Placed
it in Cell A1. He then put the cursor at Row 1 and when the tiny arrow appeared, dragged it down
several rows. Both the cell and image were enlarged. Thanks to Gene Tognetti and William Cavada,
I was able to enlarge the portraits. Used Format Align=top to place info in cells B-F on the top.
"Biography" links to Wikipedia on poets. "Poem to Read" links to poems of 6 poets on my web site.
