| Preface: On Sunday August 28, 2011, my friend took me hiking at Long Ridge Open Space Preserve. We came here three years ago on August 31, 2008 and hiked on the hot Hickory Oaks Trail before cooling off at the Ranch Spring Trail. The hike today along Peters Creek was cooler and more refreshing. Our two and half hours hike started at Skyline Boulevard across Grizzly Flat Trail of Upper Stevens Creek County Park. Near the first wooden bridge, a large deer appeared behind four Bay Trees. I waited for it to walk in the clearing for a better photo, but it just vanished! Going southward, Peters Creek Trail ended at the scenic Jikoji Zen Pond when we headed back. While crossing Skyline Boulevard a hawk flew overhead, the only one seen on today's hike. After crossing the highway, the hawk circled back to let me take a few more photos.
